What time is best to book maternity photos?

Concord Maternity Photographer

The best time to book a maternity shoot is when you want to announce your most wonderful news to the whole world: when you are giddy with joy, feel on top of the world, and can''t contain your excitement.

Unfortunately, the world cannot see your baby bump when you first find out you're pregnant, so the next best time is when your beautiful, expectant form is visible to the world.

Maternity photos are usually photographed between 32-36 weeks. Some prefer to be photographed during the late second trimester as well, when women tend to feel their absolute best and feel like a goddess.

Most expectant mothers feel their best in the second trimester, but for first time mothers, they may have a small baby bump, therefore, many maternity sessions are between 32 to 36 weeks. However, when you feel your absolute best is worth its weight in gold. Or shall I say diapers. HA!

If pregnant with multiples, the best time to photograph a maternity shoot is in mid-second trimester when you would feel your best.

When your hubby is a willing participant, then that is your green light to book a maternity shoot! Give him your word that you will repay him! WINK!

Book your photographer during your early second trimester to secure your date. Waiting to the end of your second trimester runs the risk of missing a shoot if you deliver early.

Do you prefer fall clothes more or summery? Spring floral dresses? Book your sessions a bit closer to the season you can wear what you are most comfortable in and feel the best in.

Consider what season makes you come alive and happiest when booking your maternity shoot. (Well, as much as your baby bump shows.)

There are benefits to having a maternity shoot inside, as well as outside, You can always count on the weather being good inside. HA! The baby's room is always a special place to include in maternity photos.

Whatever you do, don't be like me and NOT schedule a maternity shoot. This was not as popular when I was expecting my three babies, but I wish I did. The glow, the curves, the hope, and expectancy should ALL be celebrated. This new life growing inside you is a miracle and should be documented and celebrated.
